Interview with a Stirlingite #15

Teren

Hello Stirlingites!
Today we have an interview from ...USA!

Rene
Welcome to our Interview, would you please introduce yourself?
Teren
My name is Teren. I am HandicapHulk09 on Twitter and terensphotoshopcreations on Instagram.
Rene
Which Country are you from?
Teren
The United States of America
Rene
A short introduction about yourself?
Teren
I am 29 years old. I am a social worker (therapist/counselor) at a psychiatric hospital. The reason I call myself HandicapHulk on Twitter is because I am disabled (I have Spina Bifida and am in a wheelchair), and I like to lift weights at the gym. I also like video games and Photoshop.
Rene
When did you learn about Lindsey or started listening to her music?
Teren
I learned about Lindsey in 2012. I first saw her in her Party Rock Anthem video and then her Zelda Medley video.
Rene
Are you a Stirlingite?
Teren
Absolutely.
Rene
When did you switch from simply listening to the music to beeing a fan?
Teren
I became a fan of Lindsey as a person pretty quickly after discovering her music. I was excited to learn she and I have membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in common, and that we both went to BYU. My interest in her was solidified in 2013, because that whole year was difficult for my family and I. My father went through liver disease and cancer, and he passed away in November 2013. Throughout the year, I listened to Lindsey’s music and watched LindseyTime videos, and I also had the privilege to interact with her a bit on Twitter, which helped me escape the difficulties of that year.
Rene
Did you read the book? How did you like it?
Teren
I did read it, and I loved it. Lindsey and Brooke did an awesome job with it. I appreciate their motivational and encouraging words to their readers. I especially loved the chapter “Falling in Love is Hard to Do” in which Lindsey challenged us to think about why we love the things we typically would critique about ourselves. That was a cool exercise.
Rene
Does Lindsey have a special place in your life ?
Teren
Yes she does. For the reason I mentioned above, that her music and who she is was comforting to me during the process of losing my dad. I also admire how she stays true to herself and has made her decision to not compromise her principles. It has motivated me to stay true to mine as well.
Rene
What are your three favorite tracks from Lindsey ?
Teren
Shatter Me, Roundtable Rival, and Hold My Heart.
Rene
Have you been to a concert?
Teren
I’ve been fortunate to go to three concerts with Lindsey. The first she was a guest with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in 2013, and the other two were her concerts, in Salt Lake (2015) and Provo, UT (2016).
Rene
Have you attended a meet&greet?
Teren
Yes, at the concert in 2016. I didn’t bring any gift with me, though I’ve mailed a couple things to her in the past. Lindsey made me feel welcome and valued when I was there. To my delight, she recognized me and waved to me while I was still in line, which was awesome. When I got to her, she hugged me. She has the ability to make individuals feel like the most important person in the moment during their face-to-face time with her.
Rene
Three favorites of you!
Teren
Going to the gym, talking to friends on Twitter, and Photoshop
Rene
What music do you listen to if not from Lindsey?
Teren
What I listen to often depends on my mood. I like classic rock and R&B from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, such as Chicago, Earth Wind & Fire, Grand Funk Railroad, The Temptations, Michael Jackson, Queen, etc. If I’m lifting weights, I like stuff such as Metallica and Eminem.
Rene
A personal shoutout to Lindsey?
Teren
Lindsey, you are awesome. I am thankful to be your fan and to have had the interactions with you that I have. I love you and your music, and I wish you the best in all you do from here on out. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to your craft and to creating music for your fans (including me) to enjoy. Thank you also for being a great example of being true to yourself, and for the work you do to help others gain confidence to be true to ourselves as well.
Rene
Another shoutout to the others of the band&crew?
Teren
To everyone: Thank you for being such an awesome support to Lindsey. It’s fun to see you guys in the videos and I hope to be able to meet you in subsequent meet & greets. Thank you for all you do to assist Lindsey and to make the concerts work smoothly and to be the best they possibly can be.
Rene
Do you make Fanart?
Teren
Yes I do. My Stirlingite account on Instagram is terensphotoshopcreations.
Rene
How much can you lift?
Teren
I used to be a power lifter, and could bench press 500 lbs. The past few years, I have been focusing more on maintaining my weight because it's easy to gain when sitting in a wheelchair. Therefore I have been focusing on lifting my body weight through dips and pull ups.
Rene
How/Why did you become a member of the LDS?
Teren
I was born into the LDS Church, and have stayed as my faith and testimony have grown as I've aged. The Gospel gives me hope.
Rene
Thanks Teren for this fantastic interview!Enjoy!
